J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem
Every year, thousands of young people show interest in getting enrolled in J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The University offers study courses and programmes run at altogether 7 faculties and 1 institute.
Admission / Registration procedures
The admission procedure varies according to the below mentioned groups of students:
Study in Czech language:
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Bachelor study programme is a complete secondary education –
Maturita
(A-level).
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Master study programme is a Bachelor degree.
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Doctoral study programme is graduation from a Master´s study programme.
Students studying in the Czech language do not have to pay any tuition fees in the standard length of study.
Study in English Language:
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Bachelor study programme is a complete secondary education – Maturita (A-level).
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Master study programme is a Bachelor degree.
• A pre-requisite for admission to a Doctoral study programme is graduation from a Master´s study programme.
Students studying in the English/German language are required to pay a tuition fee as determined by the relevant faculty.

Key learning outcomes: Graduates from this branch of studies will acquire the bachelor degree in English and are qualified for entering a master programme that will enable them to acquire the recquired qualification for teaching English at primary or secondary schools. They are equipped with knowledge of the English language (linguistic subjects, literature subjects, British and American cultural studies, Introduction to Methodology of the English Language) and the second studied subject, pedagogy and psychology, and they are capable of applying the acquired knowledge and skills in numerous professions that are offered on the contemporary labour market. For instance, the graduates will be also prepared for accepting different jobs in the area where language is required as a means of communication (employees in the sphere of culture, translators in numerous areas of our economic system, assistants to teachers in numerous EU countries, etc.)
