Introduction to Project
This website is the final product and result of a seminar called ‘Project Management’, which was offered during the summer semester 2011 at Chemnitz University of Technology. The aim of this course was not only to get involved in the planning, organization, and management of a conference, but also to establish and maintain communication between project members, contributors and the general public. The conference, which this project was based on, was the STHI conference with the title EAP: From Studying to Language Services and was held from May 12 to 14, 2011 in Oberwiesenthal, Germany.
Prior to this conference, six students, enrolled in the project management seminar, formed two groups: an interview group and a film group. Whereas the film group had to familiarize themselves with the video recorders and the organization of the conference, the interview group began with the preparation of the interviews, which meant thinking about interesting and subject-related interview questions that could be equally asked to students and lecturers of both countries. The group decided to compare the different English programmes of each of the seven universities, participating at the STHI conference in Oberwiesenthal.
The work on this project began just prior to the conference in Oberwiesenthal with the preparation of interviews. Throughout the duration of the conference, the members of this Project Management group captured the events on film and interviewed students and lecturers of all participating universities regarding their degree courses, English programmes, and study experience.
The aim of this project was to provide a comparison of the different English programmes of each university that participated in the EAP conference. The results of this survey are based on the interview material that was gathered during the three days of the conference.
